To kick off the football season, EquiTrust decided to host a very special Iowa vs Iowa State Tailgate Party for the employees at our West Des Moines Office this afternoon. ? We set up some Iowa and ISU tents, catered in some delicious tailgating food from Hy-Vee, Inc., featured some fun games, and even hosted a few contests where the employees could win prizes. ? Overall, the day was a great success as we had an impressive turnout and a lot of fun heading into the fall and football season. ? A huge thank you to our employees who not only put on such a fun event, but also continue to showcase their hardwork and dedication each day. The Des Moines Corporate Games have officially come to a close and EquiTrust is proud to celebrate our achievements and participation from such a fun and enriching event. Throughout the course of the games, we watched our employees step up and compete in a variety of events to foster an atmosphere of teamwork, growth, and good sportsmanship. After all was said and done, EquiTrust came in 7th place in Division 2 with a total of 6,103 points from 23 events. Additionally, during the course of the games, our employees rolled up their sleeves to donate blood for LifeServe Blood Center of Iowa — donating a total of 18 units of blood which will go on to save 54 lives. Of the employees that donated, 26% were first time donors! Even though this was the first time our company participated in the Des Moines Corporate Games, we can honestly say that our company enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to competing next year. Recently, and as part of the Des Moines Corporate Games, 40 of our employees rolled up their sleeves and put on hair nets to package meals for MEALS FROM THE HEARTLAND. In totaling up our efforts over two shifts, we packaged a total of 20,088 meals! This is enough to feed 77 starving children around the world for an entire year! We couldn't be more proud of our teams who dedicated their time to make the world a better place and to embody our company core values of corporate citizenship!
