Today is Intersex Day of Solidarity, also known as Intersex Day of Remembrance. On #IntersexAwarenessDay, we highlighted the issue of nonconsensual surgeries performed on intersex children. Today, we bring attention to a troubling new statistic shared by The Trevor Project. Intersex LGBTQ+ young people who underwent “normalizing” surgeries are nearly 2x as likely to attempt suicide than intersex LGBTQ+ young people that did not. This is why we advocate for bodily autonomy and intersex justice. This is why we fight for you. ?????? Thank you to The Trevor Project for this important research, as well as InterACT for amplifying it. Learn more at interactadvocates.org ??
