At Equip, we know that our providers are a key ingredient to the lasting recovery of patients. Given just how difficult eating disorders are to treat-along with rising burnout rates amongst healthcare providers-we’re committed to creating an environment where our clinicians feel supported, engaged, and set up to succeed for our patients and for themselves. ?? Recently, our providers came together for an in-person onsite event for inspiring talks, bonding opportunities, and a celebration of all the work they do. Here are some of the highlights: 1?? Continued learning and education: We held trainings in motivational interviewing, psychopharmacology, caring for patients with complex problems, and more 2?? Centering culturally competent care: We had a panel on culturally-competent care and had an incredible keynote presentation from the extraordinary?Sonya Renee Taylor 3?? Team bonding: Our clinical teams enjoyed bonding dinners, hikes, and trainings on skills for practicing self-care as a provider 4?? Supporting our village: Our team committed to an inclusive onsite (like using hug/handshake/hello and social battery badges) and brainstormed solutions to make the virtual world feel more connected With a mission as important and ambitious as ours, it’s essential to prioritize provider experience, in-person bonding, and ongoing education. ??Featured podcast episode ?? Psych Hub's Therapy Cafe podcast recently sat down with Equip’s Senior Vice President of Clinical Programs, Dr. Cara Bohon to discuss a critical topic in eating disorder treatment: atypical anorexia nervosa (AAN). While the term "atypical" suggests rarity, AAN is far from uncommon. It's actually more common than "typical" anorexia, affecting up to 4.9% of people over their lifetime. In the episode, Dr. Bohon dives into the nuances of AAN, debunking misconceptions, and discussing the severe health risks this underdiagnosed condition carries. Whether you’re a psychologist, therapist, or other mental health professional, this episode will arm you with the evidence-based insights you need to treat AAN just as urgently as traditional anorexia. Eligible learners can also earn a 1-hour CE credit for listening. You can catch the episode here: https://lnkd.in/gV_AEqt3

Erin will join the "Mental Health and Substance Use Care Workforce" panel to discuss the growing shortage of trained clinicians and rising rates of burnout within the eating disorder field—and what we can do about it. At Equip, we recently conducted a survey of over 600 women to explore the intersection of fertility and eating disorders/disordered eating behaviors. Our findings reveal the complex impact that these behaviors can have on fertility journeys: ?? Women with ED/DE experience higher infertility rates (45%) compared to the national rate (11%). ?? 23% wouldn’t have sought help for their ED/DE behaviors if not for their fertility struggles. ?? 1 in 3 women hesitated to discuss their eating habits with healthcare providers, and 35% were advised to lose weight—despite evidence showing this doesn’t improve fertility. These insights highlight the need for more education, support, and compassionate healthcare. Swipe to learn more, and click the link below to read more about the survey.? https://lnkd.in/gkj2aHfd
