As we often discuss in this space, self-funding can be a viable option for many companies. But I’ve found that some are simply not aware of this strategy. There is an old adage, “When insurance is cheap, buy insurance. When insurance is expensive, self-insure.” Makes sense, mostly, but my thought is it's better to get ahead of it to begin with. Whatever the market is doing, companies should be routinely evaluating the benefits program they’re engaging. The main point is that you should always explore and evaluate your options. Be informed. Wellness. Yes, there’s an app for that! I got a good chuckle out of a recent article discussing wellness apps (do we have enough apps yet?). Like so many, they have mixed reviews and much of their outcome is based on the user, more than the product. If you weren’t aware, we have an app here at Equinox, which I don’t mind saying, works pretty well. Some of the credit goes to the fact that it’s intuitive and well-constructed. Features include live customer service 24/7, digital ID cards, and appointment setting. But another reason is we go out of our way to ensure our clients know how to use it. It’s a benefit (pun intended) and one of the many services we offer. Our goal is to provide effective, quality service to our clients. A few of our team members had the privilege of attending the Lehigh Valley Chamber’s Young Professionals Council Leadership event on Friday at DeSales University. The event included inspiring topics ranging from building your personal brand to unlocking AI for more innovative business strategies. The event ended with a panel focused on wellness and mental health in the workplace. The highlight was the keynote from Vicki Doulé, Lehigh Valley Executive and Vice President at Capital Blue Cross. Her leadership journey and commitment to the community were truly inspiring!
