FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Equality Toledo Announces New Office Location in Partnership with Planned Parenthood Toledo, OH – Equality Toledo is proud to announce the relocation of our office to a new space within the Planned Parenthood building, a move that underscores our shared commitment to advancing the rights, health, and well-being of our community. This new office, located at 1301 Jefferson Ave, Toledo OH 43604, marks a significant step forward for Equality Toledo as we continue to expand our reach and impact across the region. The move will allow us to work more closely with like-minded organizations, aligning our efforts to provide vital services, education, and advocacy for equality and reproductive rights. “We are thrilled to begin this new chapter in our journey,” said Brent Rabie, Executive Director of Equality Toledo. “This move not only provides us with a modern and accessible space but also strengthens our partnership with Planned Parenthood. Together, we can better serve the needs of our community, particularly those most vulnerable to discrimination and health disparities.” The new office will enable Equality Toledo to host more events, offer additional resources, and continue our mission to eliminate discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression. The proximity to Planned Parenthood also allows for closer collaboration on initiatives aimed at promoting comprehensive sexual health education, access to reproductive health services, and advocacy for policy changes that protect and empower individuals. “At Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, every patient and their unique identity is deeply valued,” said Erica Wilson-Domer, president and CEO of PPGOH. “We look forward to welcoming Equality Toledo to our Toledo Health Center as we continue our work together providing essential care and education to the LGBTQ+ community. Together, we’re committed to providing a safe haven where everyone can access the support they deserve and build healthier communities.” To celebrate this milestone, Equality Toledo will host an open house on Friday, September 27th from 6-8 pm, inviting community members, supporters, and local leaders to tour the new space, learn about our ongoing programs, and explore opportunities for involvement.

Equality Toledo (ET) began as a response to the passage of Ohio’s Issue One amendment in November 2004, which made it unconstitutional for the state to perform or recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions. The founding members were actively involved in opposing Issue One and educating communities about the consequences of its passage. Despite the diligent efforts of concerned citizens, the Issue One amendment became Article 15, Section 11 of the Ohio Constitution. The amendment passed because of the lack of an effective statewide coalition in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and its allies. ET was formed to address this deficiency. Since that time a lot has been accomplished for the LGBTQ communities in the Greater Toledo Area, including the Supreme Court ruling in favor of marriage equality on June 26, 2015. However, there is still work to be accomplished. Equality Toledo operates the only barrier-free food pantry in Northwest Ohio. While ID is requested, it is not required. Emergency food is available to anyone in need.
