I know that I was not alone in feeling torn about coming to a conference in Florida in the wake of all of the attacks in this state on communities of which I am a part and communities of which I am not a part but with whom my destiny and our collective future is deeply intertwined. I feel so grateful that my first session here at this NCLC/NACA consumer law conference is the keynote from Nadine Smith, the inspiring leader of #EqualityFlorida. To loosely paraphrase her, Project 2025 is being piloted in Florida right now, and we need to recognize it for what it is, and see with clear eyes what we are fighting for (and against) in this moment. I am proud to be here in a room with so many Floridians (including many Public Justice members) who are on the front line of the resistance, and am grateful to be in solidarity with them in this fight.
