Shoutout to the team that organizes Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland every year - an amazing event focused on providing education, clinician info sessions, new therapies and so much more for people with epilepsy and their families. Talking about SUDEP awareness and prevention and the impact of wearables for alerting caregivers was a standing room only session - thank you @DannyDid for presenting this session! #EADDL #EpilepsyAwarenessMonth #STOPSUDEP

November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month In the US, 1 in 26 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy at some point in their lifetime. Yet epilepsy remains misunderstood by the general public, discriminated against, and underfunded in research initiatives. Anyone can have epilepsy, and everyone should know about the prevalence, impact and what to do when they witness someone having a seizure. That’s why Epilepsy Awareness Month is so important. It’s a chance to teach others about epilepsy, and raise awareness about the risk of SUDEP. Let’s dare to imagine a community free of stigma, fear and discrimination against epilepsy. A community that feels safe for people living with epilepsy, and their loved ones. #EpilepsyAwareness ?#EpilepsyWarriors ?#endSUDEP

Today is SUDEP Action Day. We are proud to support Danny Did, PAME, CURE, EFA, Epilepsy Alliance and all of our partners working to provide education and awareness about SUDEP. "This day shines a light on the largest cause of death in people with epilepsy and helps to empower others through increased awareness. Started by the nonprofit SUDEP Action: Making every epilepsy death count, SUDEP Action Day is a time when epilepsy organizations across the world come together with one voice and one united aim. We must empower every person with epilepsy, their families and health professionals to be aware of risks and to take an active role in discussing, reviewing and reducing them. Our community deserves that." (shout out to Mary Duffy at Danny Did for the original post of this message!)

Thank you PAME for driving this campaign!
Today is SUDEP Action Day. Join PAME and our partners in raising awareness of SUDEP. This year's theme is "Our Risk, Our Rights." This theme emphasizes the community’s right to access vital, lifesaving information, empowering individuals and families by encouraging critical conversations about the risks we face and the rights we have to be informed. The theme also gives bereaved families a platform to get their questions answered and the cause of their loved one’s death acknowledged. #OurRiskOurRights, #SUDEP #SUDEPActionDay2024

Celebrating National Service Dog Month! September is National Service Dog Month. For people living with epilepsy, service dogs, particularly seizure assistance dogs, can be trained to provide care and comfort to their owners and family. Seizure assistance dogs undergo extensive long-term training to learn how to respond to a seizure and help their owner navigate day-to-day life. These special pups are trained to bark or alert a person and/or their caregiver(s) when they are having a seizure. Others may learn to lie next to the person while having a seizure, and some seizure assistance dogs are even specially trained to recognize an oncoming seizure before it occurs. These special dogs can help bring peace to families affected by seizures by acting as an added layer of support and security. The beautiful seizure dog in this photo is Honey, the seizure alert dog currently residing in our CEO's household, assisting her daughter when she experiences a seizure. EpiWatch is proud to support the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 34th Anniversary. On July 26th we celebrate?this important civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. Let's continue to make sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. #ADA34 #ThanksToTheADA#Epilepsy
