Your investment helps support student #servicelearning projects! Our goal is to get 30 unique donors to support the EPICS in IEEE program through #GivingTuesday. Your contribution can be doubled through the IEEE Foundation at no extra cost to you! Donate today and help students from around the world make a local impact. https://bit.ly/3CjdeUm Check out this video on the 15 years of EPICS in IEEE impact: https://lnkd.in/eH-bDmA5

ENCOURAGING THE PURSUIT OF ENGINEERING FOR COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT
关于我们
EPICS stands for Engineering Projects in Community Service. The program was founded in 1995 at Purdue University. It was created to meet a two-fold challenge: providing community service organizations with technology they need to improve and deliver services, and providing undergraduate students with educational experiences to broaden their skills. For more than ten years, we’ve been providing both university and high school students the opportunity to work with engineering professionals and non-profit organizations to develop innovative solutions that transform communities around the world. The program has now spread to universities throughout the United States and abroad, as well several K-12 programs. EPICS in IEEE was founded in 2009 and has facilitated more than 130 projects in over 30 countries and has impacted more than 250,000 people through our university initiative and K-12 initiative.

EPICS in IEEE is empowering #universitystudents to tackle community-based issues through innovative #engineering projects. Check out how students are using smart biodigesters to improve #wastemanagement in rural Colombia and using drones to help Turkish farmers combat climate change with a new warning system. https://bit.ly/3AAYjEH #Sustainability #Innovation #EPICSinIEEE

Traditional greenhouses often struggle with controlling indoor environments, but a team from Bridgevalley Community and Technical College in West Virginia is changing that. Their EPICS in IEEE project, a “Solar PV Powered Smart Sustainable #Greenhouse,” optimizes plant growth by maintaining ideal conditions, conserving #energy, and enabling remote monitoring. Read more about their project. https://bit.ly/4enjVC5 This project was made possible by US $4,000 in funding from the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (APS), an EPICS in IEEE partner!

The EPICS in IEEE team had a great time at the GHTC last week at Villanova! Our chair Stephanie Gillespie was part of the "Engineering with purpose: The New Humanitarian Technologies Approach" panel with others from the IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Board. In addition, the conference was a great opportunity to talk with students and faculty about the EPICS in IEEE program and they can apply for our funding in the future. #engineering #servicelearning #communityservice

Check out the project update from the "Augmented Reality 3D System for Interactive Learning in Rural Elementary Schools" team in Pakistan! Great work on delivering a second prototype to the community!
Electronic Engineer | MUET'24 | Team lead @EPICS in IEEE funded project | X-Intern @Pakistan Aeronautical Complex KAMRA @Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority
Project Update: A team from the Department of Electronic Engineering visited a public school in the periphery of district dadu to implement the Augmented Reality 3D System. This was the 2nd prototype delivered to a public school under the project funded by EPICS in IEEE. The student team and project supervisor Dr. Shoaib R. Soomro interacted with the school students and staff and demonstrated the prototype for interactive 3D visualizations of STEM concepts. The system was developed by the final year undergraduate students: Team Lead - Abdul Samad Arain,?Sameer Qazi, Amjad Hussain Channa, Javeria Gul, Farwa Shaikh, Ghulam Murtaza, Sanjna Khatri, Abdur Rehman and Harris at the Electronic Engineering Department, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. Hear from one of our EPICS in IEEE team members at Swinburne Sarawak! They share how participating in IEEE projects fostered a collaborative environment, where members’ strengths complemented each other’s weaknesses, leading to project success. This synergy helped students discover their passions in #robotics, #engineering, and #computing beyond academics. https://lnkd.in/ec_tBzyY
