Epicore Biosystems' latest research study validating hydration monitoring for worker safety was published in Nature Portfolio's Nature Digital Medicine. This is the first validation of a non-invasive, real-time sweat-sensor capable of continuously measuring sweat loss, sodium loss, skin temperature and motion. ??Extreme heat due to climate change poses a significant threat to physiological thermoregulation and could trigger various acute and chronic health conditions, particularly for workers and at risk populations, who lack protection from the heat. Until now, real-time sweat sensing has had limited validation versus gold-standard techniques and guidelines like those from Occupational Safety and Health Administration. ??Our research demonstrates that wearable sweat sensors like Connected Hydration could accurately measure hydration biomarkers in combination with autonomous haptic cues and personalized recommendations to preventatively combat dehydration and heat effects, paving the way for better hydration monitoring and management.
