CEPA test taken on Day 5: This is a series of posts about of my journey through the Certified Exit Planning Advisor program by the Exit Planning Institute. After a week filled with virtual classes and live instruction, the CEPA training came to an end and I had elected to take the test as soon as possible, so I took the exam in the 8p-11p time slot on Friday night. I finished the exam in about 2.5 hours, and the result was... To be determined on Friday the 29th. The Exit Planning Institute announces all new CEPAs on the following Friday after exam day. The test is not easy and it's a closed book exam. The designers of the exam clearly want CEPAs to have a comprehensive understanding of the methodolgy, statistics, and specific components of multiple displines understood to pass the exam. While I won't know if I passed the exam until next week, I do know now that individual practitioners who have passed the exam have passed a high bar for the exit planning curriculum, and I definitely want to be "on the team" of any advisor team who's assisting a business owner through an exit using the methodology. What's next for me? I'm going to get involved in my local CEPA chapter, get to know as many CEPAs in my market as possible, and deepen the relationships with those I'm already connected with...
