关于我们
The Earth Observation Training, Education, and Capacity Development Network Our aim: Make Earth observation-related capacity building more accessible and relevant. EOTEC DevNet’s goal is to increase the use of Earth information in decision-making on climate change and disaster management. Our approach: Improve cooperation and coordination among national, regional, and global institutions providing capacity building related to Earth observations. We seek to fill gaps, leverage resources, and reduce duplication of effort. We also foster exchange and knowledge sharing, and promote best practices on training needs assessment. Our thematic focus: Sustainable development outcomes related to disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation and mitigation. This work is aligned with 3 major frameworks: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.

?? Global Progress on Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems (MHEWS) The 2024 Global Status of MHEWS report by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the World Meteorological Organization, presented at #COP29, highlights strides in early warning system coverage and comprehensiveness. While progress is notable—especially in addressing multi-hazard risks—challenges persist, particularly for LDCs, LLDCs, and SIDS. Key takeaways: ? Steady increase in MHEWS coverage across regions. ? Disaster-related mortality significantly lower in countries with comprehensive systems. ? Data-sharing and collaboration are essential for scaling up. ??
