Chiapas is a land of contrasts — fertile biodiversity versus environmental challenges. But the story of #Chiapas is complicated. The soil, once fertile, is increasingly worn down from decades of agrochemical use and field burning. Forests have been cleared to make room for cattle grazing and corn production. The lack of irrigation infrastructure — only 4% of agricultural land has access to irrigation — means that crops rely heavily on natural rainfall, which is becoming more unpredictable due to the changing climate. But there's hope — with support from #CIMMYT and The Nature Conservancy, farmers are shifting towards regenerative #agriculture to restore the land. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/dnrmjfQv

?? Sustainable development strides and EU climate policies are impacting how Ukrainian farmers see the carbon emissions that the country produces. Emission storage is a way to reach two primary goals — to protect the environment from pollution and to earn some money. ???? The Ukrainian carbon market is now supported by key legislative advancements such as the October 2024 “Law on the Basic Principles of Climate Policy.” Enacting policies is a serious step that will allow Ukrainian carbon players to do their business effectively. Large enterprises here pave the way for everyone in the market, leading by example. ?? Read more on the Ukrainian carbon market state here: https://bit.ly/41ktcaQ
