Congratulations to Councilwoman Yassamin Ansari Yassamin Ansari, a former Phoenix City Council member, clinched the Democratic nomination for an open congressional district in Arizona, defeating her opponent by 39 votes after the tight race triggered a recount in the state that's expected to be pivotal in November's general election.

Ukraine #Energy Security Marshall Plan Press Conference COP29 Azerbaijan “More #LNG exports will only encourage European nations to remain dependent on a resource that adds to the #climate crisis and destabilizes countries. Right now, Europe’s use of LNG is declining as some countries have realized how Putin financed his war in #Ukraine using this polluting resource,” said Ievgeniia Kopytsia, Ph.D., MSCA4Ukraine Fellow, University of Genoa, Associate Professor at Yaroslav Mudryi National Library of Ukraine Law University, in Kharkiv, and research fellow at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford. “More LNG exports will hurt Ukraine’s chances of transitioning to #clean energy, making us energy secure. #Clean energy is the only resource to protect the world from despots and the climate crisis.”

COP 29 is underway in Baku. Our short film, in collaboration with Elected Officials to Protect America is showing in the Ukraine pavilion. On the big and small screens. Love it or hate it COP is still an important date in the calendar for making decisions about international climate direction and policy. COP stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’ and is attended by countries that signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). That was an agreement made in 1992 when countries committed to avoiding any behaviours that could lead to “dangerous climate change”. The first COP took place in 1995, and since then, world governments have been coming together to make plans on how to tackle the growing climate change crisis. Delighted to have participated in a series of insightful sessions at the Ukraine Pavilion at COP29 Azerbaijan this week, hosted by Elected Officials to Protect America, Oxford Net Zero, and the Europe-Ukraine Energy Transition Hub. The discussions centred on how robust policy frameworks and innovative financing can support the development of renewable and resilient energy systems, especially in challenging investment environments. At B4NZ, we’re collaborating with partners to explore how rebuilding Ukraine’s heavily damaged energy infrastructure can serve as a test case for deploying financial and policy tools to unlock essential capital for decarbonisation in developing nations. The sessions I took part in earlier this week underscored the urgent need to find new ways of mobilising private investment to achieve net zero - particularly in high-risk regions where such support is vital to achieving global climate goals. Removing our dependence on fossil fuels is the strongest action we can take to increase international security and protect our planet simultaneously. REGIONALLY, it aims to empower Ukraine with accessible and affordable clean energy, enhancing its energy independence, driving reforms and investments, and fostering comprehensive and sustainable economic growth to support Ukraine's recovery. EOPA welcomes Francis Ametepey as our new #National Campaign Fellow from Ghana. Francis is a graduate student at Ohio University, pursuing a master’s in Communications and Development Studies at Ohio University Scripps College of Communication with a proven track record in #advocacy, youth #engagement, and #social justice. With experience as a graduate Assistant at the Barbara Geralds Institute for Storytelling and Social Impact, a Communications Assistant at UNDP Ghana, a Youth Engagement Officer at Youth Advocates Ghana- YAG, and an intern with the African Development Bank Group, Francis is passionate about amplifying marginalized voices and influencing policies for sustainable #development. He believes in the power of young people to shape a more equitable world and is excited to contribute to Elected Officials to Protect America's mission of fostering impactful, #youth-driven change.
