  • More Phishing Scams: Targeting Apple & Google Wallets Cybercriminals are using fake USPS and toll road messages sent via iMessage and Google RCS to steal credit card info. • The Great Turkey Pardon Tradition??? ?? ?? Ever wonder why a turkey gets a presidential pardon each year? The White House turkey pardon is a quirky American tradition that’s been formalized only recently. While stories of pardoned turkeys go back to Lincoln’s presidency, President George H.W. Bush made it a real, annual thing in 1989. Each November, two turkeys are given a pass on Thanksgiving dinner and retire to live peacefully, often at farms or historical sites. It’s a light-hearted tradition that’s officially grown into a way to kick off the holiday season with a smile. So, while most turkeys land on the dinner table, a few luck out in style!??? We wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! Our offices will be closed from Thanksgiving Day through the weekend. However, our Network Operations Center will remain open 24/7 for emergency response. If you require support, please call (828) 274-1196.

  • SCAM WATCH: Fake TSA Precheck Email Many air travelers turn to TSA PreCheck for its quickness and ease. TSA PreCheck is a legitimate US airport screening program that allows you to get through airport security with fewer steps and without waiting in long lines. However, cybercriminals take advantage of this tool to trick travelers. In this scam, you receive an email that appears to come from TSA PreCheck. The email encourages you to enroll or renew your membership and provides a link to what looks like the official TSA PreCheck website. The website promises you can skip the long security lines at the airport by paying a fee. However, this website is a fake version of the actual TSA PreCheck website. If you enter any money or financial information here, the scammers will be able to see it immediately. The benefits you buy from the fake website will not work at any airport. Worst of all, the cybercriminals have stolen your sensitive information and money, leading to potential financial loss and identity theft! Follow these tips to avoid falling victim to a phishing scam: ? This particular scam targets US air travelers, but remember that this type of scam can be used for other organizations. Always be cautious before clicking on unexpected emails. ? Be wary of requests to pay a fee right away. Cybercriminals will try to pressure you into acting quickly. ? When you first enroll in the actual TSA PreCheck, you pay in person, not online. Also, real Transportation Security Administration (TSA) emails never contain direct payment links. If any doubt arises, remember that you have the power to contact the TSA directly, ensuring your security and peace of mind. #TravelSmart #ScamWatch #EO_cares

  • ?? New Malware Threat Alert: Hidden Malware in ZIP Files! ?? Cybercriminals are getting more creative, using special ZIP files to sneak malware past some security defenses. These files may look harmless in your inbox but could contain dangerous programs that steal information or harm your systems. ?? ?? How it works: You might get an email with a typical subject line like a shipping update or invoice request. But hidden within the attachment is malware ready to strike if opened. ??? Stay Safe with These Tips: ? Be extra careful with attachments from unknown senders. ? Watch for emails that create a sense of urgency or seem “off.” ? When in doubt, don’t open attachments or click links—report the email instead. Taking a moment to verify suspicious emails is an easy way to protect yourself and our organization from these evolving cyber threats. Stay vigilant, stay safe! ?? ??
