During a pediatric cardiac mission trip to Honduras, we witnessed a crowded ICU ward with 17 tightly packed beds in a single room. As babies came out of surgery, the ward filled, and eventually, they woke up and began to cry. We wanted to help, so we asked where the pacifiers were—but there weren’t any. Due to the circumstances, parents couldn’t be with their babies after surgery, and pacifiers could have played a crucial role in soothing them, helping these infants conserve their energy for recovery rather than crying. By using a pacifier, babies could not only cry less but also assist other nearby patients with their recovery by being less of a distraction. While we’re always focused on the next big innovation, it’s important to remember that small, simple tools can make a huge difference. That’s why we are taking action and accepting small devices for the next pediatric cardiac mission trip in January to Honduras. To learn more about our mission, visit: envisionmedtech.com

关于我们
The geography, or location a baby is born should not determine a child's life. Our vision is to bridge the gap in innovative medical technologies, making them more readily available on a global scale. We recognize the impact that specialized technologies can have on the lives of pediatric patients. By ensuring these technologies are accessible globally, we aim to empower nurses and doctors with the tools they need to intervene faster.

Our First Cardiac Mission: San Pedro Sula, Honduras. We were ecstatic to see that many of the devices Envision MedTech donated were being put to use—machine adapters, tubes, IVs, etc. It was such a unique feeling to witness the impact Envision MedTech was able to provide. Each time I saw one of our donated devices being used, I felt that same fulfillment. With that said, thank you so much to everyone who has supported us in any way, whether through a financial donation, a device donation, or even sharing our story—every little thing counts. This WILL NOT be our last mission; we’re just getting started. A huge kudos and thank you to Ron, Nelly and Alba from Helping Hands for Honduras, who have committed their lives to saving others with CHD in Honduras. In addition, a big thank you to all 30 volunteers who used their expertise to make this trip possible. It is always wonderful to see people so committed to improving the lives around them. We are forever grateful for this opportunity. Envision MedTech will continue to supply underserved populations with much-needed pediatric medical technology. Yesterday, 1,000 medical devices were shipped to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. This equipment will support Helping Hands for Honduras during their August mission trip, where open-heart surgeries will be performed on individuals born with congenital heart defects. Without specialized pediatric medical equipment and clinicians, these procedures would be unavailable. We are so excited to make our first impact on the world and look forward to many more to come. Nearly 1% of all newborns are diagnosed with congenital heart disease (CHD), and 25% of these children will require cardiac intervention within their first year of life. Approximately seven children are born with CHD every day in Honduras. Due to a lack of adequate medical equipment and training, many cases are underdiagnosed, and treatment options are limited. Helping Hands for Honduras has supported the treatment of CHD in the country through mission trips and by sharing expertise with local physicians. Envision MedTech aims to enhance this effort by providing advanced diagnostic devices, surgical equipment for mission trips, and ongoing, year-round medical support in Honduras. Brody Galloway was diagnosed with Truncus Arteriosus, a rare congenital heart defect conjoining his aorta and pulmonary artery . Luckily, he was close to a specialized hospital with proper equipment to perform his rare surgery, but what if he wasn't? The geography, or location a baby is born should not determine a child's life. Many infants, born with life-risking defects, lack proximity to specialized medical facilities capable of the necessary interventions.?

Minute in Medtech:? A perspective from an aspiring Biomedical Engineer, Competitive Cyclist, CHD Warrior, and typical(?) Teen… As you might know, I have a VERY unique connection to Medtech. I have been surrounded by it since my diagnosis of a congenital heart condition: Truncus arteriosus. Recently, I encountered Boston Scientific’s BodyGuardian MINI PLUS, an innovative Holter monitor that can track ECG rhythm for a month. It wasn’t the best news that I would be wearing this thing for this long, but let’s talk about it. Boston Scientific’s BodyGuardian MINI PLUS features continuous monitoring, a compact design, complete wireless connectivity, a long battery life, and state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities. The Holter monitor can continue monitoring a patient’s heart as long as the device is charged. It doesn't only monitor when it detects an arrhythmia, giving the majority of the diagnostic power to the cardiologist. The cardiologist can review all months of data collected by the monitor and has access to 24/7 monitoring. The device is extremely compact, especially when compared to the Holter monitors I have used in the past. This device is one sticker, about 5 inches long, with the brain of the system spanning only about 3 inches long and an inch wide. This compact device doesn't hinder me in any way and is also 100% waterproof. This simplistic design makes it easier to run, bike, swim, and engage in other activities without having to worry about bulky wires. With this comes a phone that you must keep within 10 feet of you at all times, which is a little annoying, but compared to leads, it is a huge upgrade. The device will pick up on any arrhythmias if it detects anything, and if the patient experiences any symptoms, they simply press the button on the device twice. The press of the button will alert the cardiologist, and he or she can see the arrhythmia in real time. My experience with Boston Scientific’s BodyGuardian MINI PLUS has been rather uneventful. Which is great! I haven’t experienced any symptoms, and for the most part, I forget I have it on at all. I run and bike with it on and have had no problems with it. However, my cardiologist did receive a notification when my heart rate went above a threshold from exercise. He might be getting more of those notifications… Overall, this device is very innovative. It is so neat to see the evolution of heart monitoring devices over the years, especially with my first-hand experience with these devices. Thanks, Boston Scientific for keeping me monitored! Thanks for reading!
