Envision Cold recently expanded our network with the addition of our 11th facility, located in El Paso, TX. This makes our 3rd facility along the US and Mexico border. El Paso adds another strategic point along the border, offering 241K sq. feet of multi-temperature storage solutions, including blast capabilities and USDA import and export services. The site's team brings years of experience and specializes in the distribution point for local producers, including pecans at all stages of the processing cycle, hatch chiles and onions, along with various protein commodities. We're excited to announce we have FOUR new ripening rooms at our McAllen, TX, facility, and one of them is specifically for a fickle fruit — the avocado! Avocados are a highly complex fruit that require special handling to ensure their safe arrival at their final destination. For example, did you know you must maintain 90% to 95% ripening room humidity to reduce dehydration during avocados' ripening cycles and help with their external appearance? Our new ripening rooms will allow avocados to receive the proper treatment they require, such as fresh air exchange, the right level of humidity, proper temperature management and more. Our Co-founder and COO Stephen Draper and Senior Vice President Rudy Sandoval recently attended the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) Policy Forum in Washington, DC. We had the opportunity to be part of legislative sessions that directly impact our industry and attend congressional meetings to discuss regulations in cold chain. Between recent changes to the EPA’s Risk Management Program and updates on FSIS impacting the cold storage industry, these sessions are vital for our team to stay up to date. We also met with U.S. Representative Tracey Mann as he discussed the Farm Bill, significant policy debates and the FRIDGE Act during the forum's last day.
