The EPA’s proposed 65% budget reduction threatens decades of progress in restoring the Chesapeake Bay, putting water quality, marine life, and local economies at risk. Slashing funding for the Chesapeake Bay Program could dismantle critical pollution-reduction initiatives, reversing environmental gains and leading to severe habitat degradation. Without federal support, efforts to curb pollution and protect vital ecosystems will falter, jeopardizing one of the nation’s most important estuaries.
