?? Check out this clip featuring Richard Diaz of the BlueGreen Alliance highlighting Milwaukee's lead service line replacement (#LSLR) program, and how it's boosting the local workforce! And don't miss the full video, found here: https://lnkd.in/gUcRxkSt
Milwaukee's lead service line replacement program is boosting workforce development by requiring contractors to hire 40% of their workforce from disadvantaged zip codes. This initiative also mandates apprenticeships for skilled trades, resulting in increased diversity among laborers, plumbers, and engineers, with a significant number of apprentices being women and minorities, says Richard Diaz of the BlueGreen Alliance. ?? #GetTheLeadOut AND galvanized too while we’re at it! ?? Most of the conversation around water service lines, replacement, and public health has (rightfully!) focused on toxic lead pipes - #LeadServiceLines (LSLs). While likely the largest source, it’s important to remember that LSLs are not the only source of lead in #DrinkingWater. In this latest blog, Marc Santos, P.E. and Maureen Cunningham take a deeper dive into #GalvanizedServiceLines and explore why utilities should be considering their removal as part of their #LeadServiceLineReplacement plans. ?? https://lnkd.in/e6Vh8gac

We are thrilled to see this latest report by the Ohio Environmental Council, supported by EPIC! Be sure to check it out, and let’s #GetTheLeadOut together!
NEW REPORT: Today, the OEC released a new cost-benefit analysis demonstrating the significant public health and economic benefits of fully replacing Ohio’s lead service lines. Ohio unfortunately ranks as one of the top states in the country for lead service lines. These pipes release low levels of lead into drinking water that can contribute to chronic health issues for adults and children. We must act now to get the lead out. The faster we act, the sooner Ohioans will realize the health and economic benefits of replacing those service lines. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/etzXjtbx
