After an incredible 7+ year journey, our CEO Dave Fabianski has announced his retirement from Apex. Under Dave’s leadership, Apex more than tripled in scale and has become a national leader in environmental consulting and engineering, expanded its services in water, and developed a world class staff and culture. We are grateful for Dave’s authentic leadership, unwavering people-first focus, and for establishing Apex as one of the highest performing firms in our industry. While Dave will certainly be missed, we are excited he will remain connected to Apex as a member of our Board of Directors. We are also excited to welcome Shawn Doherty as our new CEO on November 4. https://hubs.ly/Q02WBzcz0 #ApexCompanies

EP/Apex is currently assisting several municipalities with Catchment Investigations of their drainage systems as part of their Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (#IDDE) Programs. This work involves updating asset information and the municipality’s drainage mapping, plus screening the stormwater flow when illicit connections are suspected. As part of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (#NPDES) Phase II Stormwater Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (#MS4) Permit; Massachusetts communities will need to complete these inspections of their MS4 catchment areas by 2028. We enjoy working side by side with our clients to improve and manage their #stormwater systems and to identify and remove any illicit connections along the way!

EP/Apex Co-Ops were able to get an up-close look at one of our exciting projects last week! The decades-long planning and design of a new state-of-the-art water treatment plant for the Tri-Town Water District (Braintree, Holbrook, and Randolph, MA) started construction in December 2022. The plant will treat surface water supply including PFAS6 removal, and is designed to have capacity for 12.5MGD (million gallons per day) providing clean water to almost 80,000 residents between the three communities.

EP is excited to be working with the Town of Hanover, MA on a comprehensive water tank rehabilitation project that supports the long-term reliability of the Town’s water system. Maintaining critical infrastructure like water storage tanks is essential for extending asset life and safeguarding public health. Proactively planning capital improvements projects like this one helps reduce the risk of costly emergency repairs and keeps communities on track to continue to receive safe, reliable water service for years to come.

The New Provincetown Police Department Situated on the corner of Route 6 and Shank Painter Road in Provincetown Massachusetts the new Police Station sits prominently on a small section of greenery creating a new gateway into the town. The clean and timeless geometry of the Cape Cod architecture with a centralized gabled roof, cedar shingles, and board and batten fa?ade ties in well with the fabric of the Town. The Post and Board fa?ade as well as the Galvanized Steel Piling facades complement the marine structures found throughout this seaside community. The abundance of natural light is created with the use of large modern windows and glass-framed gable ends to enhance the office environment within the associated workspaces. The glass-filled gable ends with double-height spaces are shaded by cedar wood battens to provide both shading and security from the site below. These gable ends incorporate LED color-changing lights that provide a community symbol for activities in town such as pride week and breast cancer awareness through an expression of light. EP is working with the Town of Bridgewater MA on a multi-phase upgrade to their Morris Ave. Wastewater Treatment Facility. The first phase is to enhance the Rotating Biological Contactor process to reduce effluent levels of nitrogen (Permit limits for total nitrogen of 60 lbs/day and ammonia nitrogen of 3 mg/L and 36 lbs/day) to the receiving waters that are tributary to the impaired waters of the Taunton River Watershed. Construction is anticipated to be completed early 2025 in time for the new Spring Nitrogen Permit limits to be reached.
