Last week, as part of the Innovate UK Creative Catalyst and BridgeAI Global Business Innovation Programme – SXSW 2025 in Austin, Innovate UK supported Flossy AI at the get-ready workshop. During the workshop, Gameli Ladzekpo, Founder, immersed himself in the insights, knowledge exchange and innovative ideas shared by industry experts – including the brilliant minds from the cohort from last year. Dr A.K. Ola Hekselman, a trailblazing battery scientist and Co-Founder & CEO of Solveteq has been honoured with a Purple Plaque in recognition of the Innovate UK Women in Innovation Award. ?? The plaque was unveiled during a special ceremony at Imperial College London, where Dr Hekselman co-founded Solveteq alongside Professor David Payne in 2021. Drawing on research conducted in the Department of Imperial Materials, Solveteq is revolutionising traditional metal extraction processes with its energy- and cost-efficient solvent-based technology platform. Dr Hekselman’s inspiring journey saw her pivot from developing next-generation lithium-ion battery materials to addressing sustainability challenges in battery recycling and metal recovery - demonstrating how innovative science can drive a greener future.
