To me, most organizations insisting on return-to-work rules are either trying to reduce their head counts or comply with state or local tax inducements. Either way, it's the best of the best that are almost always the first to leave when the ship is no longer a desirable place to live.

Allstate Doubles Down on Remote Work.... The company says its workforce is now 99% hybrid or flexible, and that as a result it has experienced a 23% increase in job applications and a 2X increase in the number of applications for jobs advertised as flexible. ? The company sold its headquarters in Northbrook, IL, and donated office supplies, home décor, sporting equipment, kitchen appliances, clothing and more to local not-for-profit organizations. ? The company says it cuts its real estate spending in half — enabling it to reallocate funds toward employee home offices. ? Many companies insisting on return to work know that this is a great way to conduct layoffs without the cost of severance pay, revealing a complete disregard for the value of talent because: ? The best talent is often the first to start looking for another?job when return-to-work mandates are issued. More Wisdom From Meaningful Meetings, Lessons Learned Enterprise Engagement Alliance Show With Fionn Ferreira, an Environmental Prodigy, and Jaki Baskow, Las Vegas talent agent. ? What a learning opportunity to host these shows with accomplished people willing to share their life lessons. ? We don’t focus on their stories—you can find them anywhere—we focus on their lessons. ? Advises Fionn to anyone on a quest or launching a business: ? ? Love what you do. Enjoy the process. Don’t just focus on the outcome. This is essential because persistence is the second biggest lesson he shares. ? Not always having the right tools or necessary resources can be a long-term advantage. It’s a learning process that forces you to be innovative and flexible. ? Never stop playing, especially in the out of doors. It helps foster creativity, imagination and an open mind. ? Don’t be afraid of teaching yourself, in addition to whatever education you pursue. ? Stick to the facts. Be wary of any assumptions or beliefs that might obscure reality. ? When raising money for a business, don’t just focus on the dollars and cents, focus on the purpose of the organization. If people buy into the purpose, they’ll be more likely to invest and even more satisfied with the outcome if you succeed. ? Don’t think of sustainability in terms of being a responsibility—it’s an opportunity to create new value for customers and to future-proof organizations. ? https://lnkd.in/e5aZfXF9 ?

A greater focus on value creation is inevitable and will demand an more rigorous approach to program design, implementation, and measurement.

Maritz CEO David Peckinpaugh on What’s Ahead for Enterprise Engagement in 2025....Steady Growth, Personalization, Data-Driven Insights, Program Design Emphasis, Sustainability, and More Maritz is one of the first and largest agencies specializing in helping organizations engage all stakeholders, customers, employees, distribution partners, etc., so our RRN media property checked in with CEO David Peckinpaugh as part of an upcoming annual market report featuring input from many others in the field. ? Here are the key trends he sees further explained in the article. ? Personalization: Clients are seeking highly personalized programs that cater to individual preferences and motivations. ? Data-Driven Insights: Organizations are increasingly relying on data analytics to measure the impact of their programs and optimize their strategies. ? Program Design: Clients are seeking partners with proven expertise who can advise on optimizing program structures rather than just administering rewards. ? Experiential Rewards: Unique experiences and opportunities are gaining popularity as powerful incentives. ? Generational Differences: Organizations will need to adapt programs to cater to the values and preferences of this younger workforce (more personal, more digital, more connected to purpose). ? Sustainability: A growing number of organizations are incorporating environmental strategies into their incentive programs, aligning with broader corporate social responsibility (ESG) goals. This is a passion point for Maritz, he says. I couldn't agree more. Analytics, AI, and research showing the impact of people engagement are going to drive a much more demanding approach to program design and measurement than is prevalent today. Stay tuned for the market report in early December. ? Click here for the full story. https://lnkd.in/eXGfiFku #incentives #rewards #recognition #experiences #engagement #stakeholdercapitalism

Danger: Poorly Designed Sales Incentive Programs Can Be Hazardous to Your Organization’s Health.... ? The bad news...Since effective incentive design is taught almost nowhere in schools, people with no training often design programs that: ? *Reward people who would have achieved their goals anyway. *Overlook the middle-60% who are the ones most needed to enhance performance. *Neglect other factors that could affect performance, such as leadership support, product and service features, culture, learning, and collaboration. *Focus only on results measures instead of process metrics as well, encouraging sandbagging behaviors or overly aggressive sales tactics. ? This short article shows how to do it right based on decades of research. ? I would start by making sure that the people designing your programs know what they are doing. #incentives #rewards #recognition ? https://lnkd.in/e7XX_4iQ

Capitalism can do a better job of creating value than it is today, can't it?

No Administration Will Solve What Really Ails Americans.... No matter whom one voted for, I would hope most wish the new president well, but neither he nor any president will be able to solve what really ails Americans. ? Analyze what keeps most people up at night and it’s not the macro issues that presidents can address but daily issues related to our work, health and families over which government has surprisingly little control. Solving the Mideast crisis, the war in Ukraine; slashing government spending; expelling illegal immigrants, however worthy, will in fact have very little impact on the general unhappiness in this country today. Because surveys suggest that what really is ailing most people is business: the shareholder-focused approach to capitalism that focuses on short-term gains for investors by extracting wealth from customers through poor customer service and unkept promises; employees through inadequate pay and benefits; distribution and supply chain partners through onerous payment terms, and communities through pollution and infrastructure damage. ? The recent JUST Capital survey (see link below) of how Americans view business indicates that capitalism in general and our employers in particular have much more influence on our daily happiness than does presidential policy. The survey finds general agreement among conservatives, moderates, and liberals that capitalism isn’t doing enough to create value for their stakeholders. ?? Stakeholder capitalism is just better business for all stakeholders, including shareholders. #stakeholdercapitalism ? Click here for JUST Capital survey: https://lnkd.in/eV9cRPUS

Was Seth all wrong? Why is this great work largely ignored despite 100,O00 books sold?

Why Do Marketers Keep Looking for the Next Big Thing When It’s Right Under Their Noses? Permission Marketing.... Doesn't it just make sense to identify and build relationships with the people most likely to buy and then to nurture customer relationships for life? ? Published 25 years ago and reportedly selling more than 100,000 copies, this book by Seth Godin contains some of the most important marketing wisdom never followed. ? Why? ? 1. Permission marketing requires a way of thinking and skills alien to most marketers, who are trained and pushed by their companies to sell, sell, sell to fill up those pipelines. Marketers receive almost no training in the development and implementation of useful content or relationship building strategies, and the terrible customer service offered by so many companies proves how little so many care about customers once they have made a purchase. ? 2. Marketers are always looking for the next bright shiny object.?At the time Seth’s book was published in 1999 pay-for-click advertising was just taking off—what could be simpler? Why bother implementing a strategy that requires people to learn new skills, such as learning how to inform and help, instead of sell? ? 3. Then came social media advertising and now it’s on to AI.? ? Anything to avoid the uncomfortable truth that no one wants to be marketed to and even fewer people wish to be sold. At least people on Linkedin are transparent about all the ways they are trying to manipulate us. ? Someday the world will wake up and realize that Seth Godin was right: Marketing should be about "turning strangers into friends", rather than continually browbeating us until we become customers and then torturing us if God Forbid we have a problem with what we buy. https://lnkd.in/eZxUECXF #marketing #sales #stakeholdercapitalism #customerservice

The sad thing about the cynical view of business on Seinfeld, a lot of it is true...And, we just kind of all accept it as inevitable.

Lessons From the J. Peterman Guide to The Extraordinary Life.... In this 30-minute Enterprise Engagement Alliance YouTube Show with John O’Hurley, the stage actor, game show and National Dog show host, ballroom dancer who is probably best known worldwide as J. Peterman in Seinfeld, shares the essence of what he has learned across all these experiences. This new Meaningful Meetings, Lessons Learned show is co-hosted with Jaki Baskow of Baskow Talent and the Las Vegas Speakers Bureau, who is lining up great talent for this show that focuses specifically on the lessons learned by accomplished people in all walks of life. ? Leading an extraordinary life is not about power or money, O'Hurley tells us. It boils down to three things: 1) imagination, opening your mind to be ever receptive to new ideas; 2) contemplation, thinking carefully about each move and striving for common sense; and 3) appreciation, understanding the value each person brings to the table, respectful that we all have flaws. ? Why do so many Seinfeld episodes focus on absurd business situations? we asked. Because sadly so many of the episodes ring true, O’Hurley says. In fact, the J. Peterman character is largely based on his boss at his first job after college, when he had temporarily given up his acting aspirations to go into business for fear he would be broke otherwise. What’s often missing in business, he says, is a lack not only of imagination, contemplation, and appreciation, but common sense. The amount of waste we know exists in government doesn’t stop there, he says. There’s plenty of it in business. ? AI may force many organizations to take an entirely different approach to content....

Powerful Evidence of How Content Will Rule Commerce and Search in the World of AI.... I was doing a search for information about one of our customers Links Unlimited Inc. and here's what I found. For information, Microsoft Copilot recommended going to its web site but also to the total rewards publication of the Enterprise Engagement Alliance, RRN at https://lnkd.in/eSwHKDq, which has published several articles about the company over the years. ? Crude as it yet remains, AI is already demonstrating the enormous efficiency of being able to search for and get answers in human language, rather than a list of search results ? For marketers in the world of AI, it will increasingly become a battle of not only publishing high quality content on your own site. If you want to be really credible, it will be equally important to have information about your company and thought leadership appearing in reputable third-party media. ? The challenge is that marketing agencies and departments rarely understand content, because many are taught and encouraged to sell, not help. #marketing #AI #stakeholdercapitalism #enterpriseengagement ?
