The Director of Internal Audit plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial and operational integrity of the organization. This position oversees the development and execution of internal audit programs, identifies risks, and recommends strategies to mitigate them. The Director will serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Trustees, providing valuable insights and guidance. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive internal audit plans aligned with the University's strategic objectives. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and prioritize audit activities. Oversee the execution of internal audits, ensuring adherence to professional standards and best practices. Analyze financial and operational data to identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions. Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend enhancements to mitigate risks. Advise executive leadership on compliance matters and regulatory requirements. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Board of Trustees’ Audit Committee. Manage and mentor a team of internal audit professionals. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA certification with a current Michigan license. Proficiency in data analytics software and ERP systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft, Banner). Knowledge of athletics/NCAA compliance regulations is a plus.
