A new milestone in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea- I am very excited to share the top line analysis of our 6 month data from the OSPREY randomized controlled trial, demonstrating a 66% AHI and 63% ODI reduction using?the LivaNova Aura6000 system for the treatment of OSA. The Livanova approach utilizes a 2 component neurostimulation system which does not depend on respiratory sensing and does not need sleep endoscopy for qualification. The 12 month data is not yet available and device remains investigational until FDA review. However we were able to halt recruitment of patients early in the trial due to its adaptive design where a very high probability of success was predicted allowing us to close sooner. I hope for successful completion and approval as this will further advance care for our patients with more options for treatment of #osa using Implantable hypoglossal neurostimulation On a personal note, I began this project with Imthera medical in 2009 through several trials, continuing as an advisor to LivaNova so this is a special moment for me.
