?? Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm, knocked out power for about 2 million customers across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, with South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina being hit the hardest. The damage to the power grid was so severe in some areas that utilities will need to rebuild entire sections, rather than just repair them. Georgia Power even called Helene the most destructive storm in its history. How Can VPP's help ?? ? Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) are less reliant on fragile transmission lines because they use a decentralized network of smaller, localized energy sources. This flexibility helps keep power flowing even during major disasters like Hurricane Helene. Unlike the centralized grid, which took a huge hit, VPPs could help unaffected areas share power with those still without it, providing temporary relief until the main grid gets fixed. Traditional power grids can take weeks to recover, especially when the damage is widespread. But VPPs pool energy from distributed sources, like solar and wind, and can direct it to where it's needed most, bypassing damaged infrastructure and keeping the lights on in critical areas. #HurricaneHelene #VirtualPowerPlants #EnergyResilience #GridStability #CleanEnergy #SustainableSolutions

Filling the gaps in climate data is crucial to help the power sector get ready for and reduce the risks from extreme weather and climate changes. As our energy systems grow more complex, especially with more renewable energy sources, having accurate and detailed climate data is key to making the grid stronger and more reliable. EPRI’s work with organizations like NOAA highlights how collaboration across different fields is needed to make real progress. As climate threats increase, using precise data in energy planning will be critical to keeping the grid reliable and adaptable. By using this data in our platform, Enspi Technologies can help utilities and power companies predict future challenges and manage energy more effectively, ensuring the system stays strong during extreme weather. How can we build better partnerships between climate scientists, energy planners, and companies like Enspi to improve how we prepare for climate risks in the energy sector? #GridResilience #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #ClimateRisk #SmartGrid

PJM has been in discussions lately about changes proposed to their capacity markets, rate changes and interconnection issues, especially regarding new storage systems coming online. These changes are critical to helping PJM shore up its capacity market and meet regional needs by 2030. SIS is designed to streamline the process for BESS and other resources, yet the current implementation seems to be stifling participation. Removing SIS without something more effective in place will only create more bottlenecks. Amending the framework to reflect the changing dynamics of energy development and new sources would create a more efficient system. We should be asking: How can the SIS framework be optimized to make it not just a possibility, but a clear pathway for BESS integration? #PJM #ratechanges #energytransition #cleanenergy
Can PJM fix its battery storage problem?

The increasing focus on Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) reflects a shift toward a decentralized and flexible energy grid. States are implementing various programs and legislation to aggregate Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) like solar, batteries, and smart thermostats, enhancing grid stability and reducing the reliance on traditional power plants. Despite the complexity of deploying VPPs, states are promoting their development through incentives, market reforms, and mandates. Enspi can play a crucial role in this evolving landscape. By providing advanced energy management tools, Enspi can help manufacturers optimize their energy assets, participate in VPPs, and navigate regulatory requirements. This enables manufacturers to achieve energy efficiency, reduce costs, and generate new revenue streams, aligning with state initiatives for a more resilient and sustainable grid.
