?? The IEA released its Energy Efficiency 2024 report: https://lnkd.in/eQn5M8YK ? ?? Decrease in energy intensity in Europe is expected to slow down after a record decrease of 5% in 2022-2023. Energy intensity does not reflect energy efficiency improvements only. But it gives a first indication about current energy efficiency trends. More details about trends in Europe can for example be found in the ODYSSEE-MURE data, as presented in this webinar: https://lnkd.in/ekbThFff ? The IEA report brings a very complementary overview, with insights from what's happening in the other world regions, in terms of energy efficiency trends and policies. #ENSMOVPlus is focused on experience sharing among European countries, but we can surely learn from good practices in other parts of the world!

Our #NECPlatform peer learning programme application month starts now! Multilevel governance processes, such as the Climate and Energy Dialogues, are mandated by Article 11 of the European Regulation on the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action (1999/2018). They are a crucial governance tool facilitating the implementation of the energy transition at EU and Member States' levels, yet, not all countries have been able to dedicate the necessary space and effort to organise them. The LIFE-funded NECPlatform project invites you to participate in a peer-learning programme, developed to transfer the knowledge acquired during the first 2 years of the project on how to best set up multi-level and multi-stakeholders dialogues. The PLP participants will hear from real examples and benefit from a collaborative space where they can discuss their doubts and challenges. Experienced peers share insights based on their own experiences, facilitating mutual learning. By the end of the PLP, participants will have a better understanding of the intricate dynamics and strategies that can be employed to organise effective Climate Energy Dialogues. Equipped with practical knowledge and peer insights, they will be more prepared to approach CEDs with greater confidence and adaptability. This opportunity is specifically intended for governments of (and other organisations with national relevance based in) the European Member States not part of the NECPlatform project (the participating countries are Bulgaria, France, Croatia, Italy, Portugal and Romania). ?? Energy efficiency facilitates electrification! ?? This is the main finding of a recent study published earlier this month. The study provides concrete data to showcase how energy efficiency and flexibility can help balance the EU energy system and make the transition to climate neutrality more affordable and reliable. For instance, ambitious building renovation and flexibility measures could, in 2050:?? ? Cut almost in half the highest level of consumption (peak demand) observed in a year? ? Reduce energy system costs by €312 billion a year?? ? Save €44,2 billion annually in distribution grid investments? As we move towards increased electrification, lowering Europe’s energy demand will be key to tackling current challenges such as grid congestion or high energy prices for companies and citizens.? ???? New Eurobarometer Survey Results: EU Citizens Strongly Support EU Energy Policy! The latest Eurobarometer reveals that European citizens are overwhelmingly supportive of the EU's energy policies over the past five years. Key findings include: ? Backing for EU energy policy: citizens widely support efforts made in the energy sector, with a call for even greater EU-wide coordination. ?? Affordable energy: Europeans want more actions at both EU and national levels to reduce energy prices and make them more accessible. ?? Consumer choices: 24% believe that Europe has helped in making better choices for energy suppliers, while 18% say the EU has helped choosing energy-efficient products. ??Personal action: 77% of Europeans have changed their habits, consuming less energy at home in the last five years. ?? Home improvements: among the 44% who implemented energy-saving measures at home, nearly half invested in insulation for their roof, walls, windows, or floors. These findings highlight the growing commitment across Europe to both individual and collective energy-saving initiatives. Let’s continue along this path!
