CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (November 25, 2024) – Cherokee County Recycling Center is expanding services through a partnership with America's Thrift Stores enabling residents to recycle more items conveniently. "We are excited to announce that we can now accept donations of clothing, textiles, shoes, and books for recycling,” said Recycling Center Manager Troy Brazie. “Three donation drop boxes have been installed at our Blalock Road facility, and items can be dropped off anytime during normal business hours.” Donations are accepted free of charge and a portion of the proceeds from America’s Thrift will support Children's Healthcare of Atlanta... CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (November 20, 2024) – Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office will compete in February to raise money for charity in the 19th annual Guns and Hoses 5K Run/Walk. The Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency event is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, at Hobgood Park located at 6688 Bells Ferry Road in Woodstock. The fire department will represent Goshen Valley Foundation Boys Ranch, a nonprofit organization serving young men in the state foster care system, and the sheriff’s office will represent Charlie Ferguson Community Center, which stands as a symbol of the power of volunteerism and community engagement for those in the Pea Ridge community... CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (November 18, 2024) – Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency to host lineup of holiday themed events aimed at families and children of all ages. “With activities ranging from personalized calls and letters from Santa to a unique swim event with the Grinch and a holiday market, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this December,” said Cherokee Recreation and Parks Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator Jessica Hallman. Families can kick off the holiday fun by signing up for Santa’s Calling, a free opportunity for children to receive a personal call from Santa and his elves. Parents or guardians will need to submit the request form by Monday, Dec. 9. Santa will be making calls on Wednesday, Dec. 11 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Forms can be submitted online, by mail, or in person at Cherokee Recreation and Parks locations at the Recreation Center in Woodstock (The WREC) located at 7545 Main St., Bldg. 200 in Woodstock or at the L.B. “Buzz” Ahrens Recreation Center located at 7545 Cumming Hwy in Canton.
