ATA and five other associations representing language service providers across the United States have issued a joint statement opposing President Trump's recent Executive Order 14224, which designates English as the official language of the U.S. and revokes Executive Order 13166. Read the full statement at https://lnkd.in/gn47VhnN. Language access may be under threat, but the fight isn't over. Now is the time to act. As interpreters (and members of our respective communities) we must: ? Educate LEP individuals about their rights under Title VI and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. ? Support providers in maintaining language access services despite the chilling effect of this executive order. ? Support policies that expand language access and speak out against efforts to weaken it. The law still requires meaningful access, but enforcement depends on our collective voice.
