The way a blank is shaped, configured, or even combined with other materials can dramatically impact formability, material efficiency, and final part quality.  In this post we dive into the different types of blanks used in forming simulations:  - Single & Double Attached Blanks – Whether symmetric for mirrored parts or non-symmetric for custom shapes, these configurations are crucial for balancing material usage and production strategy.  - Tailor Welded Blanks – Combining different materials and thicknesses through welding before forming allows for stronger, lighter, and smarter part designs.  - Patch Blanks – Reinforcing key areas with additional material helps prevent splits and wrinkles, ensuring formability without redesigning the entire blank.
