Bold flavors, secret ingredients, and some seriously creative recipes! The Engenious chili cook-off competition was once again a success! Our team enjoys coming together, trying new things and sharing laughter along the way. The winning entries show-cased well-done heat, unusual spices and homegrown vegetables! Our electrical team swept the podium this year with Peter Frey (Staff Electrical Engineer), Cody Blades (Product Engineer), and Tanner Griffin (Electrical Engineer) taking home the trophies.

We’re pleased to welcome Jose Gonzalez to the team as a full-time Assembly Technician! Jose initially joined us part-time over the summer, where he quickly showcased his abilities by building and testing for multiple products. As a full-time team member, he’s taking on larger and more complex projects. His skill and dedication will help increase the capacity of what we can create at Engenious Design.

Announcing that Paul Murphy has joined our team as a Model Maker and further expanded our model shop's capabilities! Paul brings a unique blend of skills from his background as a surgical technician, optical lab manager, fabricator and small engine technician. His hands-on experience and keen attention to detail make him an exceptional addition to our growing model shop. We’re excited to see how his expertise will enhance our prototyping and innovation efforts.

Please join us as we welcome Anh Can to our team as a UI/UX Designer! With a background in graphic design and over three years of experience in UI/UX, Anh specializes in creating intuitive and engaging digital experiences. Her expertise is a valuable addition to our growing team, and she will play a key role in designing user interfaces and researching user experience as we move forward. The Engenious summer internship is real-world experience in product development. Isabel Loney participated in the Summer 2024 internship on the software team. She accepted a full-time offer to join Engenious in 2025 after graduation. Surrounding her experience, Isabel stated: “The Engenious community has been so supportive as I navigate working in the field of embedded technology for the first time. Working on a variety of projects, I not only gained technical skills but also became a better-rounded software engineer overall as I learned to navigate the world of new product development. I am grateful for the opportunity to work on meaningful projects and be surrounded by people who are equally passionate about their own work.”

We are pleased to welcome Will Marsh to the Engenious team! Joining us as a Quality Assurance Engineer, Will brings a strong background in medical research, hands-on medical device repair, and quality assurance engineering. In this new role, he will be instrumental in upholding the highest standards of quality, risk-analysis and regulatory compliance to the products we design. Will holds degrees in Exercise Science from KU and Biomedical Engineering from Wichita State, combining a deep understanding of both fields to enhance our team’s capabilities. Wishing you a safe and happy Halloween! Our team has fun together and the “Rhyme without Reason” theme was a fantastic time, where everyone’s creativity shined. From clever costume combos to a Halloween quiz and costume contest, our celebration was full of fun (and a lot of pizza!). From a Frito Lay Sommelier to a Surgeon Sturgeon and Nurse with a Purse, everyone had a blast showing off their rhyming costumes. Thanks to everyone who joined and made it a memorable day. We're expanding our model shop capabilities with Sarah Batrouny who has joined us as a new Model Maker. She brings experience ranging from theatrical scene shop work to 3D printing and CNC manufacturing, Sarah’s hands-on expertise is already making our model shop stronger. In her role, Sarah will be responsible for creating and refining models and prototypes for the devices designed by our team. She’ll collaborate closely with the Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design teams to ensure the models we produce are of the highest quality and meet rigorous safety standards. We’re eager to see what she’ll create! Please join me in welcoming Sarah to the team!

Surrounding her experience, Ella stated: “My internship experience at Engenious was truly one of a kind. This team made me feel incredibly welcome to ask questions and try things in areas I had no previous experience with. This felt like a unique experience as I was given the freedom and responsibility to work on projects independently while also feeling supported if there was help needed. I felt like I was a part of the team and making an impact on the projects I was working on. I learned so much from this organization in just a few months which I know will be invaluable to my continuing education in the engineering field.”
