关于我们

EngenderHealth envisions a gender-equal world where all people achieve their sexual and reproductive health and rights. We know that sexual and reproductive health and rights are completely and inextricably intertwined with gender equality. We also know that marginalized groups—such as girls, women, and gender minorities; adolescents and youth; people with disabilities; economically disadvantaged groups; and rural and other hard-to-reach populations—are particularly vulnerable to discriminatory practices that can prevent them from leading healthy lives. But that can change. We believe that if all people are empowered and engaged; and if they live in supportive communities where systems and institutions provide high-quality, gender-equitable sexual and reproductive healthcare; and if policies, laws, and process are supportive, then they will exercise their rights to gender-equitable sexual and reproductive health services and participate as equal members of society.

Bystander Intervention: The key to stopping Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in our communities. As leaders in the social impact space, we all have a responsibility to address the epidemic of GBV in our communities. However, knowing how to intervene effectively can be challenging. EngenderHealth is excited to share the SAFE-ACTIONS Bystander Intervention Framework, a powerful tool that provides step-by-step guidance for anyone - not just GBV professionals - to act when they witness or learn of violence. The SAFE-ACTIONS approach covers 7 key steps: S - Safely Assess the Situation A - Assume Responsibility F - Find Ways to Intervene Safely E - Engage Empathetically A - Assess the Needs C - Connect to Resources T - Take Action I - Intervene Safely O - Offer Support N - Never Blame the Victim S - Spread Awareness By equipping individuals with this framework, we can support everyone to be active bystanders and make a real difference in preventing GBV. When we all do our part, we can create safer, more just communities. Download your copy of the SAFE-ACTIONS Bystander Intervention Framework https://loom.ly/3gteh5w. What’s one way to respond to gender-based violence (GBV)? Educate future military leaders. EngenderHealth is proud to work with partners in Benin to strengthen GBV interventions and prevention efforts. We're working with the Ministry of Defense to include a course and awareness module on GBV for student soldiers in military schools. Educating future military leaders is vital to building a society free from violence: https://loom.ly/T0LH8Ek #ENDGBV

What’s one way to respond to gender-based violence (GBV)? By ensuring access to lifesaving GBV services. Conflicts and instability in Ethiopia have had devastating consequences: disrupting essential services, livelihoods, and exacerbating protection risks, especially for women, girls, and adolescents. The inability to access critical services, including sexual and reproductive health and GBV care, has led to serious human rights violations, increased maternal and infant health issues, and immense psychological trauma. That's why EngenderHealth's provision of life-saving protection and GBV assistance program in Ethiopia is vital. It improves awareness of GBV services and increases the number of people seeking services by strengthening service referral pathways, decentralizing and improving GBV response coordination, and enhancing collaboration between key stakeholders. It's all about ensuring that no matter what challenges they face, all survivors of GBV in Ethiopia have access to the life-saving services and care they deserve. What’s one way to respond to gender-based violence (GBV)? By driving change through equitable partnerships. At EngenderHealth, we believe that meaningful partnerships are vital in driving sustainable progress on critical issues like GBV. Our approach to working with local organizations, especially youth-led and women-led organizations (YWLOs), is centered on equity and mutual learning principles. The Strengthening Local Youth- and Women-Led Organizations (YWLOs) to Become Key Actors in Promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Improving the Management and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in West Africa program, supports an established network of YWLOs across multiple countries in West Africa, including Benin, C?te d’Ivoire, Togo, and Burkina Faso. This partnership-driven model reflects our deep commitment to co-creating programs that genuinely meet the needs of youth, women, and other marginalized groups. Together, we're working to advocate for expanded access to a full range of sexual and reproductive health services and address the root causes of GBV. Learn more https://loom.ly/CSPuVSw #EndGBV

With the election of President Donald Trump, we are on the cusp of undoing decades of progress in global health and human rights. #Project2025, championed by conservative forces and aligned with the incoming administration, includes devastating policies like expanding the Global Gag Rule to stifle reproductive rights worldwide and cutting ties with critical UN agencies. The stakes couldn’t be higher. Expanding the Gag Rule would restrict $51B in foreign aid, limit access to contraception, close clinics, and deepen disparities in health care access—all while ignoring the proven harm these policies cause. We aren’t overreacting. The damage last time was immense, and this time, it could be worse. We’ll continue to fight for health, rights, and equity worldwide, but we need everyone to join us in standing against these harmful proposals. Together, we can make a difference.
