It’s been nearly five years since the pandemic turned education upside down, and yet, the latest Nation’s Report Card shows we’re still struggling to recover. Math scores are slowly rebounding, but reading performance continues to decline, and absenteeism is a growing issue. Here's something that stood out to us: Why haven’t we made more lasting changes based on what we learned during the pandemic? Why do snow days still exist? Schools invested in virtual learning - so why aren’t we using it to keep kids on track instead of canceling class? Why isn’t hybrid learning more common? Remote school worked for many students. Could a more flexible model help with learning loss and chronic absenteeism? What’s really behind the long-term decline in reading and math?
