Because what you say after landing the job can be just as important as what you said to get it. A few years ago, I watched it happen in real-time. The candidate sat across the table, offer letter in hand, smiling. Then they said "Wow. I didn’t think I’d actually get this. I totally made up half my resume!" Cue instant regret. The hiring manager’s smile disappeared. The handshake never happened. And that offer? Revoked before the ink even dried. Listen—companies do their due diligence. Background checks. Reference calls. If you faked your way through the process, they will find out. And even if they don’t, admitting it at the finish line? Career suicide. So here’s my advice: Be excited, not reckless. Stay professional until after you’ve actually started. And for the love of job security, don’t sabotage yourself.
