#ReadyForKinder hosted by #EngageNW in partnership with Salem-Keizer Public Schools and Salem For Refugees, successfully supported families in preparing their young children for kindergarten. Aimed at parents with children aged 0-5 and expectant parents, the event prioritized inclusivity by offering interpretation in six languages. Families received free resource bags with learning kits to help families and their children feel prepared for #kindergarten. The kits include an alphabet puzzle, number lines, matching puzzles, fine motor skills puzzles, dry erase board and marker, pencil grip, note pads, binders, and curriculum information. A catered meal was provided by #DamascusKitchen. On-site childcare and arts and crafts allowed parents to engage fully. The event fostered community connections, combatting isolation and to ready and empower families for #childhoodeducation. #community #education #refugees #family #Oregon #SalemOregon #NW #CommunityForAllAges

EngAGE is closely monitoring the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. All of the residents in the communities we serve are safe. Our Altadena community was evacuated, and our Santa Monica community is prepared should it become necessary. Our Program Directors are adjusting programming as needed to engage residents in safe ways while avoiding smoke inhalation. We are grateful to the firefighters and other first responders for doing their best in this most challenging situation. We thank everyone who has shown concern for the residents and our team. Collectively, our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by these devastating fires. Like everyone, we are hopeful for a shift in the weather to support their full containment. #LAFires #LosAngelesFires
