Electricity is notoriously unforgiving which is why, in our sector, nothing trumps 'safety' as the #1 priority. But a safe workplace is so much more than one that's simply free from physical injury - it's about recognising and responding to psychosocial risks, to the changing landscape, to shifts in community expectations, and to the impacts and opportunities from new technology and new thinking. We're blessed with world-class safety teams at Energy Queensland, and it's great to see our own Ingrid Fuentes sharing her insights with other HSE leaders in Sydney last week.
Great to be in Sydney this week presenting at the inaugural Women in Health and Safety Summit hosted by Quest Events, where I had the privilege to present on the prerequisites for safety leadership and the essential skills required to thrive in this ever-evolving field. Sharing insights on what it takes to lead with impact in health and safety is a topic I am deeply passionate about, and it was inspiring to engage with such a forward-thinking and motivated audience. A big thank you to Lisa Crawford , Phoebe Gane and Kelly Lovely for their insightful contributions and conversation at our panel discussion around the evolving regulatory, economic and social trends and the complexities they introduce to the health and safety space. To all those who attended and contributed - including my fellow Energy Queensland colleagues Rhian O'Sullivan and Kate Clark, thank you for your insights, energy, and collaboration. A massive thank you to Quest Events for the invitation to participate and also to Alanna Ball for your enthusiasm as the MC for this event.
