I'm a full on student of the auto industry. As a kid growing up in rural Pennsylvania, I knew that a car was freedom. I became a subscriber to Car and Driver magazine when I was 13. I knew how to drive long before I got my driver's license. Reading this story and others about this joint venture has reminded me that this new phase in personal transportation is going to be a full on scramble. Is this the secret sauce that pushes EV into the mainstream? It's an exciting time. No one knows who the winner is. Rivian is my emotional favorite. But this whole industry remains impossible to handicap. We can all enjoy the ride.
