Vistra and EPRI are collaborating to launch the DCFlex Initiative, a multi-year R&D program to explore how data centers can support and stabilize the electric grid while enhancing interconnection and efficiency. https://lnkd.in/gGNc2bgK The initiative will deploy five to ten large-scale flexibility hubs using existing or new facilities. The hubs are intended to serve as living laboratories to explore strategies for integrating data centers with the grid. They will also experiment with innovative solutions—like artificial intelligence, biodiesel, hydrogen, advanced energy storage systems, and others—setting the stage for potential grid-connected operations in the future. We’re excited to be part of this initiative. Shares of power generation company Vistra Corp. are up more than 135% this year due to increased demand for energy in data centers powering the AI revolution.? Only two S&P 500 companies, Super Micro and Nvidia, are outpacing Vistra year-to-date. “For seven years we’ve been growing our company with this electrification theme in mind. We’ve tripled revenues, we’ve tripled earnings power and that’s all before this latest wave of AI interest,” said Vistra CEO Jim Burke.
