New German Leader Calls for Stopping the Nuclear Dismantling!
On live national television a few hours ago, incoming German Chancellor Friedrich Merz just said, and I quote, "it is necessary to reach a moratorium on dismantling" of nuclear plants.
I've been working towards this moment for nearly a decade, and I'm pleased to announce that I've received an O'Shaugnessy Ventures Fellowship to put on a conference in Berlin explaining the next steps required to restart as many as 9 German nuclear reactors by 2032.
Along with a committed group of nuclear advocates in Germany and around Europe, my team has never given up making the clear technical and economic arguments for halting decommissioning activities and conducting restarts. I was at Brokdorf a few days ago and saw they pristine condition of the plant, which still has nearly full staffing and all key equipment on site.
We'll continue visiting the plants, speaking to management and workers, and finding industrial partners ready to take action as the new pro-nuclear German Chancellor takes office.
This moment represents a massive shift for Europe, as for a decade Germany has sabotaged European nuclear efforts and used its influence in financial institutions and NGOs to sabotage nuclear energy around the world, using German taxpayer money to do it.
Chancellor Merz will need to find strength, and overcome the likely opposition from the dying generation of antinuclear bureaucrats, but he can act knowing he has the German people behind him: two-thirds, by our most recent polling, want to continue using nuclear power.
