Welcome to Throwback Thursday, where we reflect on our past projects. AT A GLANCE? Project: Plant Headquarters and R&D Laboratory? Client: BYK USA? Location: Gonzales, TX? Delivery: New Construction? Size: 25,000 GSF Purpose:? BYK’s existing R&D labs were housed in an older building with outdated MEP infrastructure, with the potential for health risk to building occupants. The existing building could not adequately accommodate the client’s new testing processes and equipment. Outcome:? The new headquarters building serves as the new front door to BYK’s extensive clay processing plant. The open-concept laboratory was designed with flexibility in mind. Since the labs are adjacent to sensitive office spaces, the design structurally and mechanically isolates moving equipment.? A combination of interior and exterior glazing opens up the 12,000 SF of analytical, QA, and R&D laboratories to the collaborative workspaces for investigators, technicians, and laboratory managers. Plant-side laboratory access for materials, samples, and maintenance safely keeps lab work out of the visitors and office path. It ensures that a process with gas, power, or exhaust demand can move or grow without disruption. To see other examples of how we design flexible R&D laboratories, check out our laboratory portfolio here: https://lnkd.in/gfUVfHzK #EnegyArchitecture #ResearchLabs #BYK #FlexibleDesigns

Energy Architecture is proud to have sponsored today’s networking breakfast at the ASCENDxTexas 2025 conference in Houston. The summit brings together stakeholders from NASA, industry, academia, government, and private entities. We enjoyed building new relationships with like-minded people and learning about pivotal new developments in the aerospace industry. The sessions were enlightening. We learned about NASA's work transitioning from the ISS to commercial LEO destinations, highlighting industry leadership, challenges, and the evolving government-industry partnership. Also, about the aerospace industry's update on NASA's Moon to Mars initiative, highlighting key milestones, mission objectives, technological advancements, and cross-sector collaborations driving human exploration of the Moon and Mars. Stay connected with us on what is new! https://energyarch.com/ #Aerospace #EnergyArchitecture #Conference #AscendXTexas #AIAA #SpaceExploration

Last Thursday, the Texas Chapter of COAA (Construction Owners Association of America) held its Owners Only conference at the Texas A&M RELLIS Campus in the Center for Infrastructure Renewal. Our own Todd Arenz, A.I.A., LEED AP BD-C, CDT helped tour attendees through the building, which Energy designed. The engineering research and testing facility features interdisciplinary research labs aimed at making infrastructure smarter, more resilient, and longer-lasting. The highlight of the tour was the strong wall/strong floor high-bay testing area, a valuable resource for innovation in infrastructure development. It is the largest strong wall/strong floor high-bay testing facility in the state. Designing a facility the size of three football fields in an isolated, arid climate comes with unique challenges—but thoughtful planning and strategic design support long-term functionality. Now in the framing stage, the Vehicle Maintenance Facility for Liberty Energy, an oil and gas company in Odessa, TX, will serve as a centralized hub for their growing operations, housing 42 vehicle maintenance bays and a two-story office space for training and administration. Shout out to the fantastic team at Constructable for their tireless efforts and dedication in helping Liberty achieve its vision! Stay tuned for more updates as the building progresses.
