A huge congratulations to the Maine Governor's Energy Office on the $425 million award under the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Transmission Facilitation Program! ? ? New transmission to unlock the abundant clean energy resources we have in New England is critical to transitioning to a future grid, achieving energy independence, and growing good-paying jobs in a 21st-century industry. We’re grateful to have Maine as a partner in the clean energy transition.? ? The flexible procurement authority that the Healey-Driscoll Administration continues to seek through the Governor’s supplemental budget would give Massachusetts the ability to capitalize on opportunities like these to partner with other states to procure clean energy resources and related transmission to help reduce emissions, improve reliability, and lower consumer costs. https://lnkd.in/eD3kft-S?

Yesterday, the Town of Reading, MA cut the ribbon on a monumental project years in the making. The Maillet, Sommes, & Morgan Conservation Land's Stormwater Wetland is the result of a watershed-wide effort to regionally coordinate around stormwater flooding. This constructed wetland features several cascading pools that catch and hold stormwater runoff from roads during large storm events in order to lessen flooding both in town and downstream. It was funded in part by a Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and an earmark from Congressman Seth Moulton; and was conceptualized as part of a regional effort to address stormwater flooding under the Resilient Mystic Collaborative. We are so proud of the work that our communities have done to make this possible, and we hope that it is a first step toward a more climate-ready and resilient Mystic River watershed. We are grateful to everyone who made this possible, including the Town of Reading, the Resilient Mystic Collaborative's Upper Mystic Working group, Representative Seth Moulton's office, and the MVP grant program.
