?? New funding for marine energy! Our Water Power Technologies Office has opened an opportunity for up to $112.5 million in funding to advance the commercial readiness of wave energy technologies! This opportunity is designed to reduce risks for deployments, increase the potential for commercial adoption through longer-duration demonstrations (expected to last six months to two years), and offer additional benefits to help quickly advance wave energy converters. This includes the ability to identify and mature high-potential technologies, reduce financial risks for developers and incentivize investors, progress technologies at smaller scales while developing toward utility scale, and increase learning for installation, operations, and maintenance. If you stop and look around you, how many battery-powered items do you see? You’ll probably notice that batteries touch almost all parts of our everyday lives. Today, we’re thrilled to announce our selections of over $3 billion for 25 projects cross 14 states through DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC). The selectees are expanding existing or building new domestic capacity for battery-grade processed critical minerals, battery components, battery manufacturing, and recycling. In total, these projects will support over 8,000 construction jobs and over 4,000 operating jobs nationwide!
