EnerGeo Alliance is focused on progressing policies by streamlining federal permitting and modernizing key regulations, such as the Marine Mammals Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act. Our VP of Global Policy & Government Affairs, Dustin Van Liew, was recently featured in a Forbes article for his remarks at the February hearing of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries chaired by Wyoming Republican Harriett Hageman. Dustin highlighted how outdated regulations are causing significant and unnecessary delays in offshore development, pointing to the inefficiencies caused by the overlap between the two acts. By modernizing these laws, we can reduce bureaucratic red tape and streamline permitting processes—essential steps for advancing energy projects and boosting the U.S. energy sector. EnerGeo applauds the efforts of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries for hosting an Oversight Hearing, “Evaluating the Implementation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act.” The hearing was held on Feb. 26, 2025. EnerGeo urges lawmakers to promptly consider modernizing legislation on the Marine Mammal Protection Act and Endangered Species Act. When enacted in the early 1970s, these acts were forward-thinking and identified problems. However, decades of regulation and litigation have exposed significant flaws. Fixing these flaws will increase regulatory efficiency, decrease uncertainty and federal costs, and ultimately benefit all stakeholders and the implementing agencies. EnerGeo submitted a letter for the record to the committee outlining some of the key problematic areas. For a look at that letter, visit https://lnkd.in/g_jn6dzD

#MakingEnergyPossible is about creating a robust energy future. No amount of solar energy or wind power could fuel development in the global south without backup power using mainstay energy sourcs, of which gas is one of the cleanest options.
