It was an absolute pleasure to show another VIP, Council Member Erik Bottcher around the 555 Greenwich project, New York City’s first?All-Electric commercial Building, demonstrating sustainable and energy-efficient building practices. The 555 Greenwich Building features innovative #EnergyFoundations connected to rooftop heat pumps, that provide all heating and cooling for the building. This design significantly reduces environmental impact by achieving annual savings of: - 25% in electricity consumption - 800,000 gallons of water that would otherwise be used for cooling - 45% in CO2 emissions The building sets a new benchmark for sustainable urban development in New York, and showcases the potential of green building technologies to reduce our environmental footprint. The development demonstrates and aligns with his All-Electric Building Act, promoting sustainable and energy-efficient building practices. As it's #worldgeothermalenergyday, I wanted to share one of my favorite photographs from the 555 Greenwich, NYC project, demonstrating the simplicity of #EnergyFoundations. Back in December 2020, Endurant Energy installed geo loops and monitoring instrumentation into the first #EnergyPile on the project. According to the Sierra Club, many #utilities are not only off track to reach #climate goals but are in a?worse position?than they were last year. They attribute a surge in #power demand from data centers, factories, and #EVs as a key driver. Numerous utilities have asked regulators for?permission to build new #gas plants?and keep #coal plants open longer. The California Municipal Utilities Association hosted a great annual conference in Monterey. I enjoyed hearing from #utility leaders as they shared insights regarding the future of #water and #power in the state. Already looking forward to next year's event in Anaheim!
