Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital welcomed Netherland nurses from Ikazia and Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis. The nurses visited to learn how to implement nursing shared governance in their respective organizations. It was a week packed with discussions focusing on components necessary for an organization to obtain Magnet designation. On their Journey to Excellence, they met with CNO Marcie Lafido, MSN, RN-BC, CNS, Magnet Program Directors, and the Elmhurst Nursing Leadership Team as well many other departments to discuss the structure, environment and support necessary to build a strong nursing culture. I’m so grateful that I was able to participate in the discussions. It was so rewarding to be in a room filled with others so passionate about advancing nursing as a profession and helping nurses to find their voice. As I watched how intently our Netherland guests listened, took notes, reflected on information and then asked thought-provoking questions, it inspired me to bring that same diligence and commitment to my work. October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. If you know a grieving family, please remember their child with them. On the 15th you can also participate in the International Wave of Light by lighting a candle at 7pm. Today we had our annual Walk to Remeber at Endeavor Health NCH. This tradition is deeply rooted in our community and has been supporting grieving families for over 30 years. It’s one of the events that makes me so proud to work here. Endeavor Health cardiologists have found a way AI can improve healthcare for heart patients. Echocardiograms, which are ultrasounds of the heart, require expert analysis to interpret the results. With the help of AI, it can provide validated measurements in the blink of an eye. “We always have a human looking over everything and making the final diagnosis,” cardiologist, Dr. Ilya Karagodin shares. “But the use of AI allows us to save time and improve efficiency, helping to address physician burn-out and allowing our sonographers to focus more on scanning and image acquisition, and less on the laborious task of manual measurements.” Learn more: https://bit.ly/4eEP3ho
