ELAN is one of the most widely used software tools for transcribing and annotating (adding notes and information to) language recordings. This can be part of the process of creating subtitled videos, learning materials like talking dictionaries, or doing in-depth research with your language. This session will introduce you to ELAN's basic features and how to use it. ?? NOTE: The session will include hands-on practice! This online course will focus on practical issues in language revitalization, and equip learners with skills and knowledge to keep their languages strong. Over 8 weeks, starting in January 2025, participants will work with the ELP Language Revitalization Mentors to develop a concrete plan for a language revitalization project in their community. ? ? The film "KNEECAP", about Irish-language rap group Kneecap, is now available to stream online - and it's full of lessons and inspiration for language champions around the world (packed in between the excellent jokes and hip-hop performances).
