  • "Jessica’s lifelong friend Wendy supports her decision and has travelled half way across America to be with her in her final days. “We’ve called each other soul mate friends forever," Wendy tells me. “You just find your soul mate, and Wendy is mine," Jessica adds. The pair have marked many milestones together, and Wendy insisted on being there for Jessica’s final moments. “Wendy and I are going to put on our best friends forever movie – Beaches," Jessica says. "We’re going to watch that and I’m going to go to sleep in my room, in my house." I ask Wendy how she feels about the prospect of witnessing her friend’s death. “I feel pretty sad," she says, breaking down. Hugging Jessica, she adds through tears: “I just love her so much and I don’t want her to suffer anymore. And I just want to be here with her." “We’ve done everything together, so we’ll do this part together too," says Jessica." Cheyenne knows people often misunderstand what hospice is all about.
