Many of you that I've met on this platform are 40+ and underemployed, and/or looking for work. Or maybe employed, and concerned that #ageism may affect your continued employment. And what I've learned is that there is very little data available that we can share with policymakers to influence them to strengthen workplace age discrimination laws or to invest more in upskilling and reskilling older workers. So I'm thrilled that CWI Labs, on whose board I serve, is launching this Age Inclusion in the Workforce Survey, which will give us data to make meaningful policy change. Can I ask you to take the survey (it's about 10 minutes), and also SHARE it so that we can hear from many voices? Wow! Fabulous conversations about age inclusion and #ageism in the last 7 days, part of last week’s #AgeismAwarenessDay events and this week’s Age Equity Alliance's Global Fall Forum. One word I didn’t hear mentioned in any of the discussions? MENOPAUSE. Wondering why that is, and would love to hear from all of my #proaging #antiageism friends whether you talk about this topic. Especially for women over 50, addressing menopause is not just a workplace inclusion issue—it’s a business imperative. ?? I just learned this statistic: Worldwide, organizations could be $150 BILLION a year better off if they supported women going through menopause, according to consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. Tomorrow is #WorldMenopauseDay, time to applaud the employers who ARE making a difference and including this issue as part of age inclusion. There are things that we can do to fully support women experiencing menopause symptoms, e.g., offering training to help staff, especially managers, better understand the challenges associated with menopause and reduce stigma, adapting washroom facilities, and offering flexible work. ???? I’ve also learned that the Brits are already a step ahead of those of us in the U.S.! So let’s borrow their good ideas, shall we?
