Mary J Cronin has written the book on #entrepreneurs over 50 — Starting Up Smarter: Why Founders Over 50 Build Better Companies. More businesses are started by people over 50 than any other age and research shows that they are 2-3 times more likely to succeed. She is finding evidence that using #AI tools contributes to initial success but also the ability to reach scale by founders who are learning to leverage AI not just for administrative tasks, but for marketing communication, business development, sales, and other core functions. She says that AI gives a special boost to one-person businesses, or #solopreneurs. Mary J. Cronin is Research Professor at Boston College Carroll School of Management. Her research, teaching and writing focus on entrepreneurial management, corporate citizenship, the future of work, and digital business strategy. She also has extensive experience as a social entrepreneur, business advisor, and nonprofit board member. In her role as founder and leader of Jobs for the Future (JFF) Lab’s Insight Practice, Alex Swartsel?helps decision makers understand and prepare for the emerging trends, technologies, and innovations shaping the future of work and learning. Jodi Waterhouse know from firsthand experience the difference that advocacy can make in changing the system for older people. As Director of Strategic Partnerships and Programs for the Anschutz Multidisciplinary Center on Aging at the University of Colorado, she was instrumental in getting legislation passed to Improve Health Care Access for Older Coloradans, as well as a program for Loan Forgiveness for Geriatric Trained Clinicians. Jodi also serves as Vice Chair of the Colorado Commission on Aging, the state’s primary advisory body on all matters affecting older Coloradans. This governor-appointed, citizen-led multidisciplinary commission guides policy and advocacy related to programs and services for older adults in Colorado.
