Not only did our cofounder and CIO Sabrina Yang share her entrepreneurial journey at the 2024 BTBA 12th Annual Symposium, she also discussed more about founding and growing Empress Therapeutics. Sabrina played key roles in the foundational exploration and scientific discovery that created our #Chemilogics platform as well as building the team – from interviewing and hiring the company’s first employees and advisors to recruiting esteemed academic leaders to the Scientific Advisory Board and hiring top talent to the senior leadership team. Now #TeamEmpress is ~45 people, and Sabrina says, “It really takes a team, and I am proud of what we have done and where we are going in our mission to make small molecule drug discovery faster and more predictable.”

Being a pioneer in your field comes with certain challenges. Just like innovations in recombinant DNA were required to unlock the generation of biologic protein-based drugs, we've had to invent new synthetic biology tools and methods to facilitate our access to a previously untapped universe of chemistry-based drug leads inside the human body.
