We are so happy for these amazing donors and were very honored to support their #embryodonation journey. And… we are SUPER thrilled that their recipients are officially pregnant!? ?? Becoming an #embryodonor takes a little moxi(e), and BR & DR had just that! Plus flexibility, an open-heart, and an understanding of what they hoped for for all the children. We are grateful to have them as part of our Moxi family! ???? To learn more about #MoxiMatching, visit https://lnkd.in/eg382Mym

?This is the core of our mission– to create connected families and help parents be able to talk to their children about embryo donation with ease and confidence. We know that sometimes parents aren’t sure when to start the conversation, how to share, and what to say. Check out our webinar about talking to kids so you can start shaping your family narrative. ?? https://lnkd.in/ejY6yX5T

When Maya was exploring embryo donation, it was after a lot of other family building options were unsuccessful. She was at a very vulnerable and confused place and was looking for a resolution to her 4+ year fertility journey. ?? She learned about embryo donation in a bit of an accidental way, and the information was confusing and fragmented. She didn’t know what she didn’t know and only after her daughter was born did she really think about what it might have been like to have had a more connected embryo donation experience. While she knows not all recipients want a closely connected relationship to their embryo donors, she does see the real benefit and importance of having a consensual way to connect and the front-end support and education to make informed decisions. ?? Meeting Gina and Jen allowed Maya to really expand and explore the possibilities around directed embryo donation, and that is what inspires her to grow their Moxi family.

We are all about people making the best choices for themselves when it comes to the how and who in embryo donation, however, there are some important considerations: ??Embryo quality: different embryos may have different chances of success. ??Desired family size of recipient: recipients interested in a larger family may request a higher number of embryos. ??Managing relationships: how many different recipients feels comfortable for a donor. We help our donors understand their options, the various implications of those choices, and the differences between a sequential donation and dividing larger batches of embryos into different cohorts. We know it can get a little complicated, but that’s what we’re here for!

After Jen’s twins were born, she had one remaining embryo. The decision of what to do with that remaining embryo weighed on her, so she stalled decision-making by paying her storage fee year after year. But she also wondered why no one else was talking about this? ?? With well over a million embryos being cryopreserved around the country, Jen was surprised that there was no support or education around the emotional and relational elements of considering donating your embryo to another for family building. She was struggling to understand what it might mean to donate in a direct way and there was no structure of support for the emotional or logistical side of being an embryo donor. ?? So she created that support herself and when she connected with Gina and Maya she found her kindred spirits of mama’s on a mission to help support the embryo donation community in a way no one else has or can.

There are three main steps to our Moxi Matching process (after educating yourself of course!) --- ??Complete a profile and search for your match. ??Participate in a facilitated match meeting where you meet your potential match and have Jen’s support in exploring if it feels like a good fit. ??Move through the logistics of embryo donation in a cohesive and supported way! --- More details on Moxi Matching: https://lnkd.in/eg382Mym

We are thrilled (and relieved) to have Jordan Chillinsky joining the EM?POWER team as a case manager! ?? Jordan is a board-eligible genetic counselor with a passion for reproductive medicine. Her interest in reproductive medicine and reproductive rights bloomed while she worked as a medical assistant at Reproductive Partners of San Diego fertility clinic, while preparing for her Master’s program. ?? She is dedicated to educating patients and empowering them to make the best decisions for their journeys and we are excited to welcome her to the team.

EM?POWER co-founder, Moxi Matching Journey Management Specialist, Genetic Counselor and embryo donor, Gina, shares her motivation and inspiration for Moxi Matching. (Ummm… can we get more credentials in front of a person's name?!!) --- Gina was already a genetic counselor in the field of reproductive medicine when she became an unexpected fertility patient herself. She got very lucky with her IVF cycle and immediately knew she wanted to donate her remaining embryos, but her clinic didn’t offer a pathway of directed donation or the support to really understand what it would mean to donate her embryos to another. --- With the education and understanding she had about genetics and the needs of donor conceived people, Gina set out to make meaning of her fertility journey and the experience of being an embryo donor. But she had to do a lot of it on her own. Moxi Matching is the service and support she needed years ago! And now she gets to help embryo donors and recipients navigate the immediate journey of embryo donation while helping them set themselves up for the life-long journey that is being an embryo donor or recipient. --- Moxi Matching: https://lnkd.in/eg382Mym

It’s kind of hard to explain all the services we actually offer, because it’s hard to categorize what a combined 30+ years in the field of reproductive medicine and personal experience as embryo donors and a recipient translates to in terms of our offerings. In a nutshell, we provide free education, different kinds of supports and community events, and a directed matching and journey management service unlike any other. And in all of our services, we offer our experience and our hearts, because we know embryo donation is special and nuanced and can have a lot of moving pieces– logistically and emotionally.
