Conversations Not Crises—that’s what we say and why we’re SO excited to launch our Advance Directive End of Life Planning at Empowered Endings. Having an Advance Directive ensures your doctors and loved ones know what you want in the event that you can’t speak for yourself. But the standard directives are just the bare bones—they don’t speak to dementia care wishes, death with dignity options, death care, or many of the more nuanced aspects of the journey. We partnered with Thanacare to extensively scope out an Advance Directive process that comes with a robust workbook and is guided by a physician with decades of experience in healthcare, including end of life care. It’s not just a 15 min conversation with your doctor that insurance covers—it’s 60-90 minutes of uninterrupted exploration and family counseling sessions as needed to ensure loved ones understand your wishes and how to honor them. The outcomes include a legal Advance Directive, accepted in all 50 states, sent to the healthcare providers, loved ones, and lawyers of your choice; a QR code that you can take anywhere in the world; and a 3 minute video affirming your wishes, and specifying any important or controversial ones. The greatest outcome is your peace of mind and your family’s.
